Prior to the OIS< Pasadena P. D. Officer M. Colunga, unit#3339, conducted a traffic stop on a red Toyota Corolla bearing Texas license plate #GTH-9218 in the 3600 block of Shaver in Pasadena, Texas. Once Officer Colunga called out on traffic, the Pasadena dispatcher informed him that the vehicle has been stolen in an Aggravated Robbery. The Toyota was reported stolen in an HPD Aggravated Robbery, case #1707532-19. Officer Colunga requested back-up units at that time for a felony traffic stop; Officer L. Howard on unit #3338 and other Pasadena units arrived to assist him. When the Pasadena PD units were in place for the felony traffic stop, they gave verbal commands to the driver later identified as Suspect Davion Edison, and passengers, Daylon Crawford and Brandon Jackson, to exit the vehicle. They did not comply with officers commands, instead, Suspect Edison sped off and led officers in a vehicle pursuit into the City of Houston. Once in the City of Houston, HPD officers joined in on the pursuit. Suspect Edison continued to drive through the City of Houston trying to lose the Pasadena PD patrol units who were pursuing him. At one point when Suspect Edison reached the 7100 block of MLK, occupants Daylon Crawford and Brandon Jackson bailed out of the vehicle and officers were able to take them into custody without incident. Suspect Edison continued to flee in the vehicle through the neighborhood, but ultimately collided with Pasadena PD Officer I. Mascorro's was driving south on MLK at Pershing Street and Suspect Edison was driving east on Pershing Street still fleeing from the officers. The Toyota spun out and came to rest on the street in the 5700 of Pershing Street. Suspect Edison the exited the stolen vehicle and began running on foot east on Pershing Street. Officer Colunga drove past the stolen vehicle after it came to rest in the 5700 block of Pershing Street as he was attempting to cut off Suspect Edison escape. At that point, Pasadena PD Officer M. Ludeke's Dash Cam video shows Suspect Edison pointing a gun ( with his right hand), at Officer Colunga's patrol vehicle before the gets out of it, and he ( Edison), shoots one time in Officer Colunga's direction. Suspect Edison's gunfire did not hit Officer Colunga. The responding Pasadena and HPD officers then began a foot pursuit on Suspect Edison. The officers caught up to Suspect Edison on a vacant lot, on the south side of Pershing Street just east of the crash location. The officers began giving Suspect Edison verbal commands, which he ignored. Suspect Edison then started to turn towards the officers with his gun in hand, and the officers shot him.
