David Thomson (the decedent) was the owner of the SCHLOTZKY'S, who had locked himself inside the business after making statements to family, consistent with wanting to commit suicide. The reporting party further advised, David Thomson was most likely armed. Upon arrival, officers determined David Thomson had locked himself inside the business, he was armed with a pistol and was suicidal. Due to the nature of the call a Negotiation Team and SWAT Call-Out was initiated. While on scene, the Negotiation Team discovered David Thomson was going through a divorce and having financial issues with his business. During the difficult and prolonged negotiation, SWAT Team members heard a gunshot. An element of the SWAT Team then made entry into the business, where they located David Thomson. It appeared David Thomson shot himself in the head, while he was in the dining area of the restaurant. David Thomson was pronounced deceased on-scene, from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Custodial Death Report :: Page 6 of 6
