Summary:
On Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at approximately 1215 hours, patrol officers were dispatched to a
Suicide/In-Progress call at 1263 Pinemont Drive, Houston, TX where a male caller was reporting to be located
inside a van with a handgun and wanting to commit suicide. Upon arrival at approximately 1221 hours, patrol
officers observed the caller's van parked in a large empty parking lot and they were unable to see inside it, so
they continued to watch it from a safe distance. The officers had the dispatcher to attempt to talk to the caller
via telephone, requesting him to exit the van without his weapon. The caller continued to barricade himself
inside the van until the patrol officers heard a loud sound emitting from the van, which sounded like a
gunshot. The patrol officer continued to attempt to make contact with the caller, to no avail. A short time later,
SWAT officer arrived on scene and formed a team to approach the van. Upon making contact with the van,
the SWAT officers found the caller laying in the van with blood exiting his head, from what appeared to be a
self-inflicted gunshot wound. Houston Fire Department personnel then arrived on scene and pronounced the
male deceased at approximately 1415 hours.
