Front Street Texarkana, TX. Inmate Cornelius Riles was in a single occupancy cell and found hanging during routine checks. Inmate Riles had tied his t-shirt to the vent and hanged himself. The correctional officer made entry and cut the ligature from inmate Riles and life saving measures were started. Lifenet Ambulance Services responded and Riles was resuscitated and transported to Christus St. Michael's Hospital where efforts were continued. Due to the injuries sustained, Riles remained on life support until 11-14-2025 @10:36am. His family had opted to remove Riles from support and he expired shortly afterwards. Justice of the Peace Jay Womack responded and ordered the autopsy of Cornelius Riles. He has been sent to the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences at Dallas for medical examination. Due to the potential death of Riles on 11-11-2025, we contacted TX Ranger Josh Mason for outside investigation. Although Riles was still alive (on life support), his single occupancy cell was secured and processed as a crime scene to include photographs and evidence collection. Riles did not expire until 11-14-2025. TX Ranger Mason was away on assignment. Subsequently, TX Ranger David Stewart responded to Christus St. Michael's Hospital to process Riles and arrange for autopsy. Results of the autopsy are pending. AMENDMENT-Autopsy results are available with the medical examiner determining the manner of death as Suicide.
