Under Restraint: No Summary of Incident Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters) Summary: On May 12,2024, Deputy H. Dawes and Sgt. J. Davis of the Comal County Sheriff's Office responded to 1450 Elm Creek, New Braunfels, Texas 78132 regarding a suicidal subject with access to a firearm. The mentioned Deputies made contact with a female subject identified as Claire Janice Roth. During this incident Claire apparently went into the residence and back onto the porch holding a handgun. Claire verbally threatened law enforcement and apparently pointed the weapon at or in the direction of both Deputies. Deputy Dawes fired his patrol issued rifle. Claire suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen and left leg. Deputies and EMS personnel provide lifesaving aid/measures. The female was transported to the hospital and remained under the care of the hospital staff until passing away on June 07, 2024, at 12:34 am. Custodial Death Report :: Page 6 of 6
