Under Restraint: No Summary of Incident Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters) Summary: On 07/26/2022 around 10:37 pm a 2 officer unit working interdiction initiated a traffic stop on decedent's vehicle. Decedent refused to stop and attempted to evade the officers. Decedent made several U turns and direction changes before stopping his vehicle at Carl Park located off FM 521@Tres Palacios River in Matagorda County. Decedent exited the driver's side vehicle with a weapon in plain view and fired a round towards officers. One officer returned fire. The decedent then ran off into a wooded area. Unsure if the decedent was struck the officers retreated to a point where they were secure calling for backup. Upon arrival of backup the area was searched including with a thermal scope.
