Mr. Hodges led the pursuit to 1022 FM 2760 in Calhoun County and barricaded himself in a camper trailer on location. Officers set up a perimeter and awaited more units to arrive. Trooper Dylan Slovacek was one of the first DPS Troopers on scene and went toward the building to help provide interior security. After a Multi Agency Swat Team arrived plans were in the works to drive up to the house and use less than lethal weapons to secure the subject. Around 6 p.m. the power to the camper was cut off and the suspect appeared to be enraged. He exited the camper with a long gun and went towards Trooper Slovacek and other Officers. Shots were fired from both sides including from Trooper Slovacek. The suspect then moved behind a pickup Custodial Death Report :: Page 6 of 7 --- PAGE BREAK --- where he was taken down after more gun fire.
