Roberts Elementary school, 110 South Cedar in Lake Jackson, Texas, for a man discovered to be in the back of a City of Lake Jackson owned garbage compacting vehicle that was collecting garbage from the dumpsters at that location. Prior to officer's arrival, a city employee opened the back area of the garbage truck and let the man out. When the employee told the man he called for EMS and Police, the man ran down the street in the 100 blk of Cedar. The man found a black truck with the keys in the ignition and he stole the truck. Officers arrived in the area just as the man was driving off in the stolen truck. The truck owner, a surveyor doing work on South Cedar, informed the first officer on scene that his truck was just stolen and he pointed the truck out to the officer. A vehicle pursuit was initiated and it continued for about 30 minutes and traveled outside of the city of Lake Jackson. A Texas Department of Public Safety officer was able to deploy a tire deflation device at the intersection of Highway 35 and Brazoria County Road 192 in Liverpool, Texas and the man drove the stolen truck over the device, causing him lose control and wreck the stolen vehicle into a pole on the opposite side of the intersection. As two Lake Jackson officers exited their patrol vehicles and quickly approached the driver side of the stolen, wrecked truck, the man abruptly and aggressively exited the truck towards one officer while displaying a large blade knife. The first officer, in very close proximity, fired his duty weapon, and the second officer, in cover position, then began to fire upon the man until the man was down and no further threat was perceived.
