Yes, mark which Under Restraint: restraint devices were used Type of restraint Type of Restraint: Handcuffs Summary of Incident Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters) Summary: on 4/26/2022 at 3:40 p.m. Angel Marie Saldana was stopped for a traffic violation, further investigation revealed she was transporting 5 undocumented Aliens with one being in the trunk of the vehicle. Saldana was arrested for Human Smuggling and handcuffed with her hands behind her back. When asked if she had any weapons by the Deputy, Saldana stated she had a handgun in the center console of the console of the vehicle. the arresting agency Deputy recovered a loaded 9mm handgun, made it safe by clearing the weapon and ejecting the magazine out, he then placed the weapon in the front passenger seat of his marked patrol vehicle. saldana was then placed in the back seat of the Deputies marked patrol vehicle and the seat belt was engaged. Saldana was able to free her hands from the handcuffs and gained access to the handgun located in the front passenger seat. Saldana then loaded the weapon and shot herself in the chest and away from injury. The deputy's vehicle didnt have a cage between the front of the backseat therefor allowing saldana access to retrieve the weapon. This incident is currently under investigation by the Texas Rangers.
