Summary:
On 08/28/2020 at 1130 patrol responded to 3800 Enola Gay in Pleasant Grove regarding a Black Male who
had broken into a home and had locked himself in a bathroom and was refusing to leave.
The incident started at 9423 Jill Lane when the suspect later identified as Andre Lee (B/M 03-22-1996) was
running down the street screaming that someone was trying to kill him. Suspect Lee ran inside the open front
door of the residence on 9423 Jill Lane. Suspect Lee then locked the door and refused to leave the
residence. The homeowner told the Suspect Lee to leave the location several times, but the suspect again
refused to leave. At this point, fearing for his safety the homeowner retrieved a handgun and fired one time at
Suspect Lee. The homeowner missed Suspect Lee and struck the front door of his home.
Suspect Lee then fled the location and ran to 3819 Enola Gay, kicked the door in, entered the residence and
stole a cellphone. He then ran to 3803 Enola Gay and jumped through the living room window, produced a
knife and threatened to kill the homeowner if he was not allowed to go into a back bedroom of the residence.
The homeowner refused and attempted to physically keep Suspect Lee out of the area. Suspect Lee was
able to overpower the homeowner and entered another back bedroom in the residence where he barricaded
himself.
DPD officers arrived on scene and immediately started communicating with Suspect Lee through the closed
door of the back bedroom. After a short stand-off Suspect Lee opened the door, crawled to the officers and
surrendered. The officers take Suspect Lee into custody and handcuff him. While escorting Suspect Lee from
the residence he does state to the officers that he cannot breathe. The only level of force used by the
arresting officers is handcuffing. When the officers get Suspect Lee outside, they sit him up and try to ensure
he can breathe.
Suspect Lee is observed on BWC talking to the officers, but he appears to be on drugs. Suspect Lee’s wife is
also on scene and stated Suspect Lee has been using drugs for the last twenty years. His wife also stated
that he ingested an unknown amount of cocaine and jumped out of the car as they were traveling down the
street.
DFR responded to the location and transported Suspect Lee to Dallas Regional Hospital located in Mesquite
Texas. The Robbery Unit responded and conducted a preliminary investigation. Suspect Lee currently being
charged with two counts of Burglary of a Habitation and one count of Aggravated Robbery.
