Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters)
Summary:
On March 27, 2023, Houston Police officers responded to a disturbance call at 2932 Yorktown #548,
Houston, Harris County, Texas, 77056. When officers arrived, they attempted to make contact with the
suspect with phone calls. While trying to call the suspect, they heard four or five gunshots being fired from
inside the suspect's apartment. The Houston Police Department SWAT team was notified and were
dispatched to the scene. Officers then learned that one of the bullets the suspect had fired had gone through
the wall of apartment #526 and struck the occupant in the lower leg. While the SWAT team was attempting to
talk the suspect out of the apartment, patrol officers filed an arrest warrant on the suspect for aggravated
assault for the shooting of the neighbor. While on the phone with the suspect, officers heard a single gunshot
and heard the suspect yell out in pain. The officers were able to talk the suspect into opening his front door
and crawling outside for help. SWAT officers took the suspect into custody and the SWAT doctors began to
give first aid to the suspect for the self-inflicted gunshot wound to his stomach. The suspect was transported
by medical personnel to Memorial Herman Hospital, where he underwent surgery for this wound. The suspect
remained in police custody while at the hospital. On March 28, 2023, the suspect succumbed to his injuries.
