Summary:
On Thursday, November 27th, 2025 at approximately 11:20 PM, an uniformed officer assigned to the La Feria
Police Department Patrol Division responded to the 200 block of North Main Street concerning a reckless
driver. Upon arrival, the officer observed a blue Dodge Challenger parked in a handicap parking space at the
Stripes Store located at 221 North Main Street La Feria, Texas.
A consensual encounter was initiated when a male subject, who had been driving the vehicle, approached the
officer. During this conversation, the subject admitted to being responsible for the loud engine revving and tire
screeching. The officer subsequently noticed that the vehicle matched the description of a suspect vehicle
from an earlier hit-and-run incident. The officer confirmed this information by the license plates displayed on
the vehicle.
The officer attempted to detain the subject, the subject resisted verbal commands and a struggle ensued. The
male managed to re-enter the vehicle as the struggle continued. The male shifted the vehicle into reverse,
dragging the officer several feet and striking the patrol unit. Due to the immediate threat to life posed by the
reversing vehicle, the officer managed to discharge their duty-issued firearm 4 times, striking the subject three
times. The vehicle then came to a stop. Emergency Medical Services arrived and transported the male to a
local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Texas Rangers Division were contacted at the time of the incident to conduct an independent investigation.
During the course of this investigation, it was discovered the blue Dodge Challenger was stolen from an
address out of Harlingen, Texas.
