Yes, mark which Under Restraint: restraint devices were used Type of restraint Type of Restraint: Handcuffs Summary of Incident Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters) Summary: On May 25, 2018 at approximately 0741 hours, Lubbock PD Officers were dispatched to a residence in reference to a domestic disturbance where the subject (decedent) was possibly high on "meth" for several days and was breaking items in the residence. Upon arrival, LPD Officers located the subject inside the residence near the front door. Officers attempted to have him exit the residence by verbal commands; to no avail. Officers entered the residence and attempted to arrest the subject for an outstanding TCIC warrant. The subject resisted arrest by physical aggression and attempted assault. A Taser was utilized to take the subject Custodial Death Report :: Page 6 of 7 --- PAGE BREAK --- into custody and he was placed in handcuffs. Lubbock EMS was already on scene due to the violent nature of the call. The subject, while still in handcuffs, continued to resist and was placed on a gurney for transport to the hospital. While still at the scene, the subject became unresponsive and Lubbock EMS immediately transported to UMC. The subject was pronounced deceased at 0848 hours at University Medical Center.
