Under Restraint: No Summary of Incident Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters) Summary: Inmate Johnson, Alan DOB 03-10-53 was arrested and booked into the El Paso County jail on 06-25-20 for a Parole Violation charge. Inmate Johnson was assigned to the Down Town Detention Facility and later transferred to the Annex Detention Facility (isolation 3). On 08-13-20 at approx.. 1810 hrs. as Officers were doing their physical checks, inmate Johnson was witnessed by Detention Officer Wurtz # 8891 as he fell out of his wheel chair. Inmate Johnson was immediately assisted by Officer Wurtz, Nurse Ibarra (ID#4589), Nurse Pereyra ( ID#9077), and Officer Chavira (ID#5763). Inmate Johnson was checked by medical staff and noticed Johnson’s oxygen levels were below normal limits. Inmate Johnson was placed on oxygen with no improvement and at 1850 hrs. he was transported to Sierra Providence East Hospital. Inmate Johnson was admitted and assigned to ICU, where he expired on 08-17-20. Inmate Johnson was pronounced dead by Nurse Practitioner L. Cubela. Custodial Death Report :: Page 6 of 6
