Under Restraint: No Summary of Incident Summary of How the Death Occurred: (max. 30,000 characters) Summary: On 09/03/2025, at approximately 21:55 hours, the father of the decedent came to the Stafford Police Department to report that the Decedent had murdered someone and that the body was at the residence located at 13007 Lawrence Lane, Stafford, TX. Officers arrived on location and located a deceased male wrapped in a blanket, under a door-like piece of wood, in the backyard. Officers attempted to locate the resident, Adrian Mercado, who was reported to have murdered the male located in the backyard. Mercado was determined to be inside the residence when he shot at the officers on scene. An officer was struck with a projectile, which penetrated his radio that was attached to his molle ballistic vest. Officers retreated toward cover while Mercado continued to randomly fire at officers. East Fort Bend Regional SWAT and Hostage Negotiator was called to the scene. Before SWAT assembled on the scene, Mercado continued to shoot at officers. One Stafford Police Officer returned a single shot in the direction of Mercado, striking him. After SWAT assembled, they ultimately entered the residence and located Mercado deceased from a gunshot wound to the neck.
