The complainant reported the subject had a stick or rod in their hand. Officers responded and attempted to contact the subject who ran and climbed up onto a tall fence, still holding onto the rebar. Officers attempted to get the subject talked down as they appeared intoxicated or experiencing a mental health crisis. The subject made comments that officers would have to kill him. As more officers arrived on scene, the subject jumped down from the fence and began to run. The subject ran directly at a responding officer, brandishing the stick of rebar. The subject ignored officer's commands to stop and to drop the rebar. Another officer deployed his taser with no effect. The subject continued running directly at an officer with the rebar. There were citizens nearby within the tennis/pickleball facility. When the subject did not stop or drop the rebar, the officer discharged his weapon to stop the threat.
