Summary:
2-14-2021, approximately 1734hrs, El Paso Police Officers from Pebble Hills Regional Command were
dispatched to an aggravated family disturbance in progress at 3444 Sunset Rose. Officers met with the
reporter, Abel Lara, who advised that Adam Connors (decedent) had arrived at his home and pointed a
shotgun at him. Lara explained that he lived in the residence with his wife and children, along with the
decedent’s estranged wife Melissa Herrera and their children. Connors was suicidal and reportedly looking for
Melissa Herrera and the children. Connors left the scene prior to officers’ arrival. At 1739hrs, dispatch
received a call of a suicidal subject, reference Connors. At 1802hrs, officers located Connors and attempted
to conduct a traffic stop. Connors evaded in his vehicle, at which time a pursuit was initiated. Supervisors
terminated the pursuit at 1811hrs. Officers returned to 3444 Sunset Rose, believing that the subject may
return. Upon arrival at 3444 Sunset Rose, officers observed Connors’ vehicle in the street. Connor was seen

approaching the residence with a shotgun in his hands. Office I. Lujan #3060 fired a single shot with his patrol
rifle, striking Connors. Officers provided aid for Connors and summoned FMS. Connors was transported to
Del Sol where he was pronounced dead. CAP, CSU, Internal Affairs, and the Texas Rangers arrived to
conduct the investigation. Upon conducting interviews with the involved parties, investigators learned of
previous suicide attempts by Connors. Detectives obtained text messages sent from Connors, in which he
described being suicidal, and sent pictures of the shotgun and shells to Herrera. The investigation continues.
